The Mayor of Tema, Madam Ebi Bright, has commissioned a newly refurbished four-unit classroom block at Republic School in Community Four, Tema, aimed at improving the teaching and learning environment for pupils.
The project was undertaken and funded by the 40 Forward Initiative, a group made up of staff of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), as part of their commitment to supporting education and community development.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Madam Bright commended the 40 Forward Initiative for their generosity and dedication to enhancing educational infrastructure within the metropolis. She noted that quality education thrives in a conducive learning environment and described the project as a worthy investment in the future of the nation’s children.
“The refurbishment of this classroom block will not only provide a safer and more comfortable environment for learning but will also inspire pupils to strive for academic excellence,” she said.
The Mayor called on other corporate institutions, alumni groups and development partners to emulate the gesture by investing in educational facilities and social interventions that positively impact communities.
Representatives of the 40 Forward Initiative stated that the project forms part of the group’s efforts to give back to society and contribute meaningfully to the development of young people. They expressed confidence that the refurbished facility would serve generations of pupils and teachers.
School authorities, parents and community members expressed appreciation to the benefactors and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly for supporting the improvement of educational infrastructure in the area.
The refurbished facility includes upgraded classrooms, improved roofing, painting, flooring and enhanced learning conditions aimed at creating a more conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.
