Work is progressing steadily on the reconstruction of the Tema Community One Market drains.
The reconstruction is being carried out by the Assembly under the supervision of Engineers of the Urban Roads Department, TMA.
Demolition, desilting and evacuation of debris is completed, whilst excavation works has started in earnest, for reconstruction to commence.
In view of the Assembly’s pledge to expedite works for traders to return to their businesses, the Engineers have adapted the “Beam- Block- Slap” method. The new construction will be provided with vents as there were no vents in the previous one. Again, an 8 meter ground beam will also be done for reinforcement.
Eng. Benjamin Bampoh hinted that the entire 40 meter stretch of drains shall be reconstructed in phases.
