The Tema Metropolitan Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), with support from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), on Wednesday, 24th September 2025, organized a Constitution Quiz Competition for selected basic schools in the Metropolis. The event took place at the TMA New Assembly Hall and brought together pupils, teachers, and stakeholders, to deepen constitutional knowledge among the youth.

The contest featured four schools: SOS Hermann Gmeiner JHS, Amen Basic JHS, Community 11 Complex JHS, and Mante-Din Drive JHS.

Delivering the welcome address and purpose of gathering, Ms. Gifty Agyeiwaa Badu, Tema Metro NCCE Director, emphasized that the competition formed part of the Commission’s mandate to promote the study and application of the 1992 Constitution in an interactive and entertaining manner. She noted that the 2025 constitution quiz falls under the NCCE operational theme: “Ghana’s Future; Our Collective Responsibility.” Ms. Badu expressed profound gratitude to the Tema Metropolitan Assembly for their continuous support towards NCCE programmes, especially the 1992 Constitutional quizzes that her outfit organizes to promote the study of the fundamental law of the country.

Representing the Metro Director of Ghana Education Service, Mr. William Obeng, the language coordinator, commended the NCCE for its commitment to nurturing civic consciousness among school children. He charged the contestants to view the competition as not only a test of knowledge but also a training ground for responsible citizenship and leadership in the future.

Madam Bridget Affum, representative of the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive also delivered a goodwill message on her behalf, stressing that the 1992 Constitution is the backbone of Ghana’s democracy, safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, freedoms, and responsibilities. She encouraged the pupils to carry forward the lessons of the day beyond the competition into their everyday lives as citizens.
She added that the theme is timely and inspiring, stressing that building Ghana was not the sole responsibility of the government, and therefore, every Ghanaian has to play their respective roles in safeguarding the country

The lively quiz featured four rounds, testing the pupils on Chapters 4, 7, 10, and 19 of the 1992 Constitution. After an exciting contest, Community 11 Complex School emerged winners with 58 points, followed by SOS Hermann Gmeiner School with 49 points, Mante-Din Basic School with 29 points, and Amen School with 24 points.

All participating schools received certificates, exercise books, and copies of the 1992 Constitution, while plaques were presented to the first, second, and third-place schools.
