The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) wishes to clarify that reports making the rounds on some social media platforms alleging that a Sewerage spillage at Community six (6), near Smart Hotel, has contaminated the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) Water Supply System is FALSE.
The reported spillage was resolved on the 7th July, 2026 by the TMA.
Officials from both TMA and the GWCL visited the site the same day to assess the situation and found out that no such contamination had occurred, and that the allegation was absolutely false.
GWCL has put out information to the effect that their supply line located in the road buffer, near the affected area is redundant and is no longer in use for the distribution of water.
The TMA therefore urges the public to disregard such false information being circulated on some social media portals.
The Assembly remains resolute in the discharge of its mandate to ensure the safety of all it’s residents and businesses.
