The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has embarked on an exercise to safe guard Public Health and improve sanitary conditions in the fishing harbour enclave.
In collaboration with the Food and Drugs Authority, Ghana Navy, and Police Service, the Assembly confiscated contaminated fish and disposed of it safely, so it doesn’t get into the market.
The Environmental Health Officers of the Assembly, took the opportunity to educate the fishmongers on the proper way of handling fish and the implications of selling contaminated fish to the general public.
The Assembly continued with it’s routine sanitation activities, which includes the removal of illegal structures and evacuation of piled up refuse, which forms part of the Tema Face-lift Agenda.
