On Monday, 12th January 2026, the Mayor of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), accompanied by key Assembly officials, carried out an inspection tour of the Galas Market in Tema Manhean to assess plans for its redevelopment into a modern facility.
The visit provided an opportunity for the team to engage traders, community leaders, and residents, while also identifying pressing needs that require immediate attention to ensure orderly development and effective service delivery.
During the tour, the Mayor observed instances of encroachment that could hinder access to the market site. She called on the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Otabil, to initiate a sensitization program to educate residents and traders on the importance of clearing encroachments, paving the way for the smooth commencement of the redevelopment project.
The Mayor also interacted with some residents, listening to their concerns and assuring them of the Assembly’s commitment to people-centered interventions aimed at improving livelihoods, upgrading infrastructure, and promoting inclusive development in Tema Manhean.
The inspection tour underscored the Assembly’s dedication to planned urban development and collaboration with the community to ensure that projects benefit all residents.
