On Monday, 12th January 2026, in a separate action at the Tema Fishing Harbour, the Mayor of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) ordered the immediate closure of a 100-tonne capacity cold store after it failed to produce the required building permits during an on-site inspection, despite three persistent warnings.
The Mayor stressed that all developers must approach the Assembly before initiating any development, warning that failure to comply with building and planning regulations would attract strict enforcement action.
The closure forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing efforts to enforce development regulations and ensure strict compliance with building and planning standards across the metropolis.
The enforcement move underscores the Assembly’s commitment to planned urban development, regulatory compliance, and close collaboration with communities to ensure that businesses and projects operate in an orderly and lawful manner.
