Three Corporate Social Responsibility Officers from the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) in Tema were hosted by the Mayor of Tema, Hon. Ebi Bright, in her office on Tuesday, 8th July ahead of the organisation’s 40th anniversary this year.

The Hon. Mayor highlighted GNPC’s contribution to medical referrals through its investment in the stalled ultra-modern medical referral centre adjacent to the Manhean Polyclinic in the TMA’s Tema East Sub-Metro.

Further discussions focused on the possibility of GNPC partnering with the Assembly and the Tema Traditional Council (TTC) to transform the dilapidated Meridian hotel and its surroundings into a cultural heritage centre, in collaboration with the National Commission on Culture.

It is hoped that in August 2025, GNPC’s Corporate Affairs will team up with the Assembly for a clean-up campaign of the Meridian hotel area within GNPC’s vicinity, marking the start of a mutually beneficial relationship.

Earlier, Mayor Bright visited the Meridian enclave on a field trip to witness firsthand the decay of social infrastructure and the decline in sanitation, which underscores the need for a partnership to facilitate the clean-up effort.
