The TMA in collaboration with Proud Ga-Dangme Youth Group embarked on a cleanup exercise led by the Mayor Hon. Felix Nii Mensah Anang-La to rid Tema Manhean of filth and unauthorized encroachment. The groups decided to spend the national workers day cleaning the community and sensitizing on the essentiality of cleanliness.

The exercise started from the main station and then spread to the principal streets in the community. The turnout was encouraging as the youth showed so much enthusiasm and willingness to play their parts in keeping the community clean.

A refuse dump that seemed unhealthy was attended to and plans to clear the debris and redirect the site to an appropriate location is underway.

The mayor congratulated the youth for taking up this good cause to clean the community as sanitation is one of the major concerns facing the Tema metropolis, he then encouraged them to make this clean up exercise an everyday activity so as to keep the harbor city clean.

He made a donation of an undisclosed amount of money to the group to support their activities. Hon. Anang-La further implored to the residents to assist the TMA by drawing their attention to any unhealthy practices for the law to take its course. He said the by-laws on sanitation are being reinforced to deal with anyone found guilty of violating them, adding that all forces shall be combined to pursue the cause.
