The Mayor of Tema, Ebi Bright, encouraged the Chemu Senior High School (SHS) team to remain confident and focused as they prepare to compete in this year’s National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

The encouragement came when the school’s NSMQ team paid a courtesy call on the Mayor at the Tema Metropolitan Assembly. The visit was to officially introduce the team to the Mayor and seek her support and motivation ahead of the national competition.

Welcoming the students and their coaches, Madam Ebi Bright praised the team for their hard work, discipline, and academic excellence, describing them as true ambassadors of Tema’s intellectual strength.

“Chemu SHS represents the best of Tema’s spirit — determination, excellence, and innovation. As you head into the competition, know that the entire city stands behind you. Compete with confidence and let your brilliance shine,” she said.

She further reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to promoting quality education and supporting science-based learning initiatives, noting that Tema’s transformation into a modern, smart, and sustainable city depends on nurturing young innovators capable of driving the city’s future development.

The Mayor urged the students to uphold teamwork, humility, and focus throughout the contest, emphasizing that true success comes through perseverance and collective effort.

The Chemu SHS team and school authorities expressed gratitude to the Mayor for her encouragement and assured her of their readiness to make Tema proud in this year’s NSMQ.
