The Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC), has constituted a Five Member Committee, to investigate the recent incident which led to the unfortunate death of two persons with another sustaining gun shot wounds at Tema Manhean.
It will be recalled that on the final day of the month long Kpelejoo Festival of the Chiefs and People of the Tema Traditional Area, an incident occurred which led to the unfortunate death of two celebrants with others sustaining various degrees of injury.
The Tema Metropolitan Security Council (MESEC) has since met with the bereaved families to commiserate with them as well as the injured persons. The Mayor has personally assured those affected that the Assembly will cater for all their hospital bills and related expenses.
Again, the Mayor has led several public fora, involving the Youth Groups, the Traditional Council and also the hierarchy of the Security Agencies to ensure that peace is sustained.
However, The Five Member Investigative Committee set up by The RCC has it’s Membership drawn from The National Investigative Bureau (NIB), The Ghana Police Service (2 Reps), The Chief Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, with the Regional Immigration Service representative as Chair.
The Committee has a Four-Week mandate, and is expected to commence it’s investigations from Tuesday 30th April 2024.
