The TMA held its second Spatial Planning Committee (SPC) meeting for 2025, chaired by its first female Mayor, Hon. Ebi Bright, on Wednesday, 25th June 2025, at the new Assembly Hall.

The Metro Spatial Planning Committee, which has the mandate to approve or disapprove building and related permits within the metropolis, derives its composition, powers, and functions from the Land Use and Spatial Planning Act 2016, Act 925.

The Hon. Mayor took the opportunity to communicate the vision for rebuilding a resilient city, with measures for disaster mitigation, reducing road accidents, preventing building in waterways, and of curbing the proliferation of unauthorised structures in Tema.

She made these calls, urging the SPC to be fair and firm to all persons, for the overall good of Tema and its residents.
