The Mayor of Tema, Hon. Ebi Bright, has undertaken a comprehensive stakeholder engagement with transport operators, traders, and artisans operating within the Elapaso Lorry Station area as part of efforts to transform the space into a modern, organized, and economically vibrant transport hub.
The engagement provided a platform for open dialogue, allowing stakeholders to share concerns, expectations, and practical inputs to guide the redevelopment process. The Mayor emphasized that inclusive planning remains central to the city’s development agenda, noting that sustainable urban renewal can only be achieved when the people directly affected are fully involved.
Following the engagement, the Mayor officially cut the sod to commence the redevelopment of the Elapaso Lorry Station area. She disclosed that the contract for the project was awarded last year, paving the way for the start of physical works. The project is expected to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, provide better trading spaces, and create a more hygienic and orderly environment for commuters and businesses alike.
The Mayor reassured transport unions, traders, and artisans of the Assembly’s commitment to minimizing disruption during construction and ensuring that the redevelopment delivers long-term economic and social benefits to the area and the wider Tema metropolis.
The Elapaso Lorry Station redevelopment forms part of broader urban renewal efforts aimed at positioning Tema as a well-planned, business-friendly, and people-centered city.
