Various items procured through the 3% share of the District Assembly Common Fund were disbursed today to PWDs from the Tema Metropolis. Present at the program which held in the forecourt of the Assembly were the Disability Fund Management Committee members, the Metropolitan Coordinating Director, the Metro Budget Officer, Metro Finance Officer, the Procurement Officer, PWD beneficiaries and some officers of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.
The supports given were in three categories, thus, Income Generating Activities, Educational and Medical Supports. Over 100 applications for support were received. These applications were vetted and out of the number, only twenty-four (24) were approved by the Disability Fund Management Committee. This small number approved was based on the total funds available at the time of approval. The Fund Management Committee assured the Persons with Disabilities that applicants will be supported in turn.
PWD Beneficiaries were presented with the following lists of items for Income Generating Activities:

Some final year PWD beneficiaries in University of Education, Winneba and University of Ghana were given various amounts as educational support. These included GH₵5,758.00 and GH₵5,758.00, and GH₵3,174.00 totaling GH₵14,690.00.
For Medical Support, 2 wheelchairs were procured for 2 physically challenged beneficiaries.
