TEMA- 11th March 2026.
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, in collaboration with the Tema Metropolitan Assembly under the “40 Forward” initiative, has officially cut sod for the renovation of four classroom blocks at Republic School in Tema.
The project will refurbish KG1, KG2, Class 1, and Class 2 classroom blocks, enhancing the learning environment for the youngest pupils at the historic school. The initiative has been championed by the Assembly Member for the area, Sam Anthony Anoom, whose advocacy was instrumental in bringing the project to fruition.
Republic School, the first public school established in Tema, is also home to the “Tor” Tree, the only surviving tree linked to the city’s name, making this renovation a significant investment in both education and heritage.
The project aligns with the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 4, which seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
This intervention has been successfully implemented under the leadership of Hon. Ebi Bright, Mayor of Tema, reflecting the Assembly’s commitment to education and community development. Having operated in Tema for four decades, GNPC’s support under the “40 Forward” initiative demonstrates its ongoing dedication to improving public infrastructure.
The Assembly reports that the renovation is expected to be completed within five weeks from today, providing improved facilities for generations of pupils to come.
