In a decisive step towards strengthening food security and local economic empowerment, Ebi Bright has led the distribution of healthy broiler chickens under the Government’s flagship Nkokɔ Nketenkete programme—an initiative of President John Dramani Mahama.
The exercise, carried out by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) with support from its Agricultural Department, is aimed at boosting local poultry production, creating jobs for youth and women, and reducing dependence on imported poultry products.
Beneficiaries received carefully selected, healthy broiler chicks along with technical training on brooding, feeding, vaccination, and disease prevention to ensure high survival rates and sustainable returns. The Assembly has also committed to continuous monitoring and extension services to guarantee the long-term success of the programme.
Mayor Ebi Bright stated that the initiative reflects proactive governance in action. She noted that by aligning Tema with President Mahama’s agricultural transformation agenda, the Assembly is positioning the metropolis as a hub for community-driven agribusiness growth.
“This is about taking deliberate steps to empower our people,” she said. “When we invest in our farmers and provide the right support, we build a resilient economy from the ground up.”
The distribution marks another strategic move by TMA to translate national policy into tangible opportunities for residents, reinforcing Tema’s commitment to progressive and people-centred
