Tema Metropolitan Assembly has inaugurated two Committees at a short ceremony held at the Assembly.

The Committees are; The District Health Committee and the District Sports Unit.

The Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996, Act 252 enjoins each District in the Country to appoint a District Health Committee with membership drawn from the Health sector, the Assembly, Traditional Council, and Faith Based Organizations.

Again, the Sports Act, 2016 (Act.934) requires that each Assembly shall have a District Sports Unit, as part of the Education, Youth and Sports Department with representation from GES, District Sports Directorate and persons nominated by the MCE.

In his address to the newly constituted Committees, the Mayor, Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey expressed gratitude to them for availing themselves to the service of the Metropolis, and encouraged them to bring innovation into their planning, mindful of the fact that resources available to the Assembly are limited, yet our resolve is to make Tema Shine again.
