Tema -kpone — The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs. Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, has undertaken a working visit to the Tema-Kpone landfill site in Tema as part of efforts to address sanitation challenges in the Greater Accra Region.

The visit formed part of a broader assessment of waste management infrastructure to ensure sustainable and environmentally sound disposal systems.

Hon. Ibrahim was accompanied by the Mayor of Tema, Hon. Ebi Bright, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kpone-Katamanso, who briefed him on operations at the site, its remaining capacity, and the urgent need for engineered landfill development to avert potential waste management challenges.

During the inspection, the Minister interacted with site managers and contractors to ascertain the current state of operations and the timelines for proposed improvements. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure efficient waste disposal and environmental protection.

Hon. Ibrahim emphasized that sanitation remains a national priority and assured residents that decisive steps would be taken to safeguard public health and maintain cleanliness within the metropolis.
