The Mayor of Tema, Ebi Bright, has called on corporate organizations to prioritize sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that deliver long-term benefits to communities.
\nShe made the call during the handing over of a refurbished facility at the TMA Day Care Centre Site 7, a project undertaken by Fidelity Bank Ghana as part of its CSR commitment.
\nThe Mayor commended the bank for its investment in early childhood education, noting that the refurbishment would significantly enhance the learning environment for children and improve conditions for teachers.
\nShe stressed that corporate support must go beyond one-off donations and instead focus on maintaining and upgrading existing infrastructure, particularly in critical sectors such as education, sanitation and environmental management.
\nAccording to her, sustainable development involves preserving and improving existing facilities while integrating modern concepts such as renewable energy and efficient water management systems.
\nThe Mayor further highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between the private sector and local government, assuring that the Tema Metropolitan Assembly would continue to ensure transparency, accountability and the proper use of resources in all collaborative projects.
\nShe also raised concerns about encroachment around public facilities and reaffirmed the Assembly\u2019s commitment to enforcing planning regulations and safeguarding such investments to ensure long-term sustainability.
\nThe Mayor expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank Ghana for the gesture and encouraged other corporate institutions operating within Tema to emulate the example by investing in sustainable community development initiatives.
