Tema was alive with celebration on Wednesday, 11th March 2026, as the Department of Social Welfare, under the guidance of Mayor Ebi Bright, brought International Women\u2019s Day directly to schools and the local community. The initiative aimed to inspire students and residents to reflect on the achievements and resilience of women in society.
\nThe day began at Comm. 7\/2 JHS, where students gathered in the hall at 8:00 AM, eyes wide with curiosity, to watch a special video message from the Mayor. Many students were seen nodding along, and some whispered excitedly about the women in their lives who inspire them. \u201cI want to be a leader like her,\u201d said one young student, her face lighting up with determination.
\nAt Comm. 7\/1 Basic School and Comm. 8\/3 Basic School, the energy was just as high. Teachers encouraged students to share stories of women who have made a difference in their communities. Lively discussions erupted, with pupils expressing admiration for mothers, teachers, and local female leaders who have shaped their lives.<\/p>\n
The celebration culminated at Community 1 Central Market Business Centre, where women traders and community members gathered to watch the Mayor\u2019s message. Smiles, applause, and heartfelt conversations filled the space as women shared their personal journeys, challenges, and triumphs. One trader remarked, \u201cIt feels so good to be recognized and celebrated. It motivates us to keep pushing forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
