Ebi Bright, has hailed the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) as a strategic partner in the city\u2019s transformation into a 24-hour economy, stressing that Tema\u2019s prosperity and growth are inseparable from the Navy\u2019s vigilance and sacrifices.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the induction of Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi as Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Naval Command and 1 Garrison Commander, Hon. Bright commended the Command\u2019s role in safeguarding Ghana\u2019s 550-kilometre coastline, securing shipping lanes that carry more than 70 percent of international trade, and protecting maritime resources that sustain thousands of Ghanaian families.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Eastern Naval Command isn\u2019t just protecting today\u2019s commerce \u2013 you\u2019re securing tomorrow\u2019s prosperity. Every safe passage through our waters builds investor confidence. Every successful anti-piracy patrol strengthens Ghana\u2019s reputation as a secure maritime destination,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n
She noted that as Tema embraces its destiny as Ghana\u2019s premier 24-hour economy, the Navy\u2019s support remains indispensable. Round-the-clock port operations, late-night shipping arrivals, and extended fishing activities, she explained, all depend on the Command\u2019s ability to keep the waters safe and commerce flowing.<\/p>\n
Hon. Bright reaffirmed her administration\u2019s commitment to strengthening civilian-military collaboration through the Metropolitan Security Council (MESEC), pointing to ongoing joint initiatives, including reforms to ensure fairness and transparency in premix fuel distribution in fishing communities.<\/p>\n
She also paid tribute to officers, ratings, and their families for their service, saying: \u201cWhile others sleep, you patrol our waters. While families celebrate holidays, you stand watch. This quiet professionalism deserves our deepest gratitude.\u201d<\/p>\n
Concluding her remarks, Hon. Bright pledged the Assembly\u2019s unwavering support for Commodore Asiedu-Larbi\u2019s leadership, emphasizing that Tema\u2019s dream of becoming a true 24-hour economy rests on strong and sustained maritime security.<\/p>\n
