Tema Metropolitan Security Council (MESEC), Tuesday morning held an emergency meeting to discuss issues bothering the enforcement of the traditional ban on funerals and excessive noise making throughout the Tema Metropolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three- week ban spans 21st April to 12th May 2023. The annual ban is imposed as part of preparation for the celebration of the Homowo festival of the Chiefs and People of Tema Traditional Area. The period allows for the Traditional High Priest and the Elders of his Court solemnly to commune with the Ancestors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a period of stock taking and prayers for blessing and prosperity for the Traditional Area and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting brought together representatives from the Faith Based Organisations (Christian and Muslim), The Elders of Tema and also Security Personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of deliberations, the Council constituted a Special Task force under the auspices of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly to coordinate general enforcement to ensure an incident-free exercise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
