The Tema Metropolitan Assembly\u2019s (TMA) initiative to allow corporate and religious organizations to adopt a school in the Metropolis is yielding the desired results.<\/p>\n

Mr Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, who brought the initiative as part of the Assembly\u2019s Restoration Agenda, announced this on Thursday in a sessional address during a General Assembly Meeting.<\/p>\n

Mr Anang-La disclosed that about 20 organizations had contacted the Assembly and expressed interest in adopting some public schools in their area.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0pdf tarikhema<\/a><\/p>\n

He mentioned Unilever Ghana Limited, West Africa Gas Pipeline, Presbyterian Church of Ghana Communities Nine and Eleven congregations, the Methodist Church, among others.<\/p>\n

He said the initiative would give an opportunity to stakeholders to invest in the provision of quality education in the Metropolis by assisting the schools with some of their needs.<\/p>\n

According to him, adoptee organizations also had the opportunity to advertise on the schools\u2019 fence walls and receive special waivers from the Assembly.<\/p>\n

The MCE therefore urged others to come on board to collaborate with the Assembly to provide the needed education in the community.<\/p>\n

He reminded them that even though some people in management of industries and organizations in the Metropolis had their children in private schools, they must remember that if those in the community did not receive the needed education, it would also have a negative effect on them.<\/p>\n

Mr Anang-La observed that \u201ceven though your children are in the private schools, they may one day come into contact with the children in the community who would end up influencing them badly, therefore we must all be concern\u201d.<\/p>\n

He added that there was the need to educate the community as a whole noting that most of the children in the public schools visited game centres after closing from school instead of engaging in useful co-curricular activities.<\/p>\n

The MCE announced that the numerous gaming centres that had sprung in the Metropolis would be duly closed down to ensure sanity in the area.<\/p>\n
