The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) as part its routine check under the Tema Restoration Agenda has hinted on its readiness to audit the security preparedness and clients\u2019 protection facilities of companies operating within the Metropolis to ensure safety and orderliness.<\/p>\n
The Assembly is also to ensure that the installation of CCTV Cameras on the premises of companies, businesses and fuel stations becomes a prerequisite for such companies within the Metropolis to operate.<\/p>\n
Hon. Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, said it would be done in collaboration with the security agencies to ensure that businessmen and the public were adequately protected, safe and secured to undertake their activities.<\/p>\n
The TMA boss made this known when he had an emergency meeting with the Security Council in Tema last Thursday.<\/p>\n
According to him, through the Association of Ghana Industries, TMA would initiate a meeting with all expatriate businessmen operating in the Metropolis to take them through security and protection measures to ensure due compliance to safety and security.<\/p>\n
Hon. Anang-La said that the Assembly is also going to remove unauthorized structures which are on pedestrian walkways and hinder the protection of lives and property the Metropolis.<\/p>\n
He advised the public to be each other\u2019s keeper by reporting any suspicious acts to the Police to help address security and safety concerns.<\/p>\n
\u201cBanking institutions, companies and businesses are also advised to enhance their security and safety by engaging the Ghana Police Service for a 24-hour guard to help protect lives, property and the environment,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He explained that security patrols in the Metropolis would be intensified to curb the series of armed residential and street robberies as well as car thefts that had bedeviled the Metropolis lately.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe security agencies are gathering intelligence to address issues related to the recent armed robbery attacks in the Metropolis,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In addition, he said adequate steps were being taken to fix the street lights at the Central Business Centre and called for support from companies and institutions in that regard.<\/p>\n
Mr Anang-La further revealed that TMA would institute some measures to educate residents on common security techniques in consultation with the Ghana Police Service.<\/p>\n
