RE: GOLDEN AGE YOUTH CENTRE LAND NOT SOLD<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

The Tema Metropolitan Assembly has taken notice of reports in sections of the media that a parcel of land adjoining the Golden Age Youth Centre at Community 4, Tema has been sold to a Korean Investor.\u00a0 The claim is false<\/u><\/strong> and must be disregarded by the good people of Tema, especially the youth and residents of Tema Communities 4 and 7.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

THE GOLDEN AGE YOUTH CENTRE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Golden Age Youth Centre, was a project initiated in 2004, by Hon. Ishmael Ashitey (then Member of Parliament, Tema East) and now Greater Accra Regional Minister.\u00a0 The rationale for constructing the facility was to provide ICT Training and artisanal skills to the youth of Tema to make them self-employed.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

TEMA RESTORATION AGENDA <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Upon assumption of office as Mayor in May, 2017, Hon. Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, unveiled the Tema Restoration Agenda.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

High on the agenda of the Mayor, was the pressing need to salvage all deteriorated educational infrastructure, and also to protect all public lands, including the parcel of land adjoining the Golden Age Youth Centre.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

PROTECTING SCHOOLS AND PUBLIC LANDS <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

In fulfilment of the Restoration Agenda to protect school lands a sod-cutting ceremony was held on 25th<\/sup> January, 2018, at the premises of Community 7 number 1 at which the media were invited and the event was widely publicized.\u00a0 Included in the project lots, is the fencing of the Golden Age Youth Centre (GAYC). The other two (2) fence wall projects at Community 7 No. 1 and Adjetey Ansah School are all under construction, nearing completion.<\/p>\n

PUBLICATION, TENDER AND PROCUREMENT PROCESSES DUELY FOLLOWED <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

A Publication on the fencing project was carried in the Ghanaian times Newspaper dated Tuesday, November 7, 2017, Pg. 23 copy attached.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tender and procurement processes were duly followed before the contractor went to site.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Assembly has no dealings with any Korean Investor as it is being peddled in sections of the public, with the resultant misconception it may have caused in the minds of the residents.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

For emphasis, we repeat that the golden Age Youth Centre land has not been sold. <\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Tema Metropolitan Assembly wishes to state unequivocally, that our priorities are right and our development agenda is well focused.\u00a0 We are poised to improving the welfare of our youth.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Therefore, we shall not deprive the people of Tema, especially the youth, access to the Golden Age Youth Centre.<\/p>\n
