The Muslim community in the Tema metropolis on Wednesday June 13, 2018 received food items including bags of rice and oil from the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA). The donation was made by the Mayor, Hon. Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La accompanied by Mr. Samuel Donkor the Coordinating Director of TMA at the Assembly premises.

Present were the Chief Imam of Tema Shiek Alhaji Adams Abubakar, Council of Zongo Chiefs, Assembly Members and some Muslim leaderships.

According to the TMA Boss, the activity is in support and appreciation of the Muslim community as they observe the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Speaking, the Mayor said the government is appreciative to the Muslim community for their prayers and role in development agendas.

He urged them to observe the Ramadan in peace as it is a holy feast, adding that they should strive to use the occasion to promote non-violent co-existence.

Hon. Anang-La, on the President’s behalf, appealed to the Muslims to use the Ramadan period to pray for peace and prosperity for the country.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Muslim community, Sheikh Alhaji Adams Abubakah, Chief Imam of Tema expressed gratitude to the government for the gesture. He was confident that Muslims would continue to pray to Allah to lead and guide our leaders and to shower His blessings on the nation.

The chief imam used the opportunity to advise the youth to desist from doing drugs, especially tramadol which has become prevalent lately.
