As Muslims bring their fasting to an end, the Mayor of Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Hon. Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, Friday June 15, joined the Muslim community in Tema to mark ‘Eid ul-Fitr’.

He extended greetings from TMA to all Ramadan celebrants and acknowledged the importance of Ramadan and Islam as a whole.

Hon. Anang-La said, Tema does not discriminate or draw borders between the various religious denominations. He admonished that nothing compromises the good inter or intra relationship and peaceful co-existence amongst all religions in the metropolis.

He later on hosted the celebrants at his home where various delicacies and soft drinks were provided.

In response, the Chief Imam of Tema, Sheik Adams Abubakar expressed happiness, highly commending the Mayors kind gestures. He said, Hon. Anang-La is the first Chief Executive of Tema to invite the Muslim community to his home for a feast.

The Sheik prayed for the nation, comfort for the weary, healing for the sick and protection against diseases.

He further asked that Allah bless the Mayor and his team, grant them victory and strengthen them to accomplish everything they have on the Tema Restoration Agenda, an initiative aimed at improving the status of livelihood in Tema.

Ramadan, the ninth and most sacred month of the Islamic calendar is observed by Muslims with fasting, prayers and study of the Quran for spiritual growth in hope of getting closer to Allah. It is believed to be the month in which the first revelation of the Quran was received by Prophet Mohammed.
